Wyoming’s leading rusher, Harrison Waylee, is one of two seniors who announced late last week they will enter the spring transfer portal.

The surprise announcement comes just before spring practice begins.

According to 7220 Sports, Cowboys’ Head Coach Jay Sawvell said the announcement has been, quote, “on my radar,” since the start of winter workouts. “It is what it is,” the coach said. “We already had a goal of obtaining another running back in the spring portal. That doesn’t change our path.”

The portal window is open through tomorrow, April 25.

Waylee joined the Cowboys in 2023, transferring from Northern Illinois University. He finished his career here as Wyoming’s leading rusher with 947 yards as a junior.

Also hitting the doors is defensive end Sebastian Harsh. The 235-pound, 6’3” Harsh appeared in all 13 games in 2021 and missed all of the 2022 season with an injury. He returned for all 12 games with eight starts in 2023. Last year, Hart racked up 40 tackles and 1.5 sacks in the first eight games before being sidelined for the final three games with a knee injury.

Spring football practice begins tomorrow in Laramie. Coach Sawvel said he is prepared to fill the holes on both sides of the ball as he prepares for his second season as the Wyoming football head coach hoping to outperform last year’s 3-9 record.
