Quarterback Deyon Batiste is leaving the Wyoming football program.
Batiste is the odd-man out in Laramie. Kaden Anderson appears to have the starting job locked up early in spring training. Mason Drube, Landon Sims and Gage Brooks are still vying for the backup job.
Batiste will leave Laramie in the hunt for a better fit elsewhere.
The 6-foot-5, 230-pound redshirt freshman follows running back Harrison Waylee, edge rusher Sabastian Harsh (North Carolina State), nickel corner Wrook Brown and cornerback Charles Williams to look for greener grass in college football.
Competition is fierce. Coach Jay Sawvelle describes spring camp in Laramie as a “shark tank.” Only contenders who “live it,” use the head coach’s term are likely to survive.
