Anticipation is running high for the start of the Wyoming Cowboys 2023 football season. Kickoff against Texas Tech is set for 5:30 Saturday in a game to be televised nationally on CBS.

Wyoming head coach Craig Bohl is approaching the start to this season differently than last year’s more guarded approach. Bohl released the team roster last week. Last year, he took a more secretive approach. This year’s Cowboy football team is more seasoned than the one he fielded last September.

Saturday’s matchup will be a game of strength versus strength. The vaunted Cowboy defense will aim to shut down a pass-first Red Raider offense that ranked in the in the Top 25 last year. The Wyoming defense recorded 37 sacks in 2022, 21st in the nation for sacks. If the front line can pick up where they left off, it will be up to the secondary to do the rest.

The 6-foot-4-inch cornerback Kolbey Taylor had a strong spring and fall and will see a lot of action on Saturday. Taylor played nine games last season. His only start was in the Arizona Bowl. He recorded three tackles on the season with a career-high two coming against Fresno State.

The national prime time TV spot will put a lot of eyes on the Wyoming Cowboys, Saturday. Granted, most of the country will be rooting for Texas Tech. As a 14-point underdog, the Cowboys can make a mark to start the season.

Bigfoot 99 will have the game for you on 99.3 F.M. beginning with the pregame show at 4.
