Clinic operator discusses lease options
Last month, Saratoga Mayor John Zeiger brought Memorial Hospital of Carbon County to a town council meeting to discuss what medical services they could offer the Platte Valley if the town terminated the lease for the clinic with the current operator, Health Management Services.
Last night, HMS appeared before the Healthcare Sustainability Project and discussed options for renegotiation with the town while they continue exploring whether a critical access hospital is feasible in the valley.

High speed chase suspect arraigned
The Rawlins woman who led sheriff’s deputies, police and even highway patrol troopers on a high speed chase through the city Sunday night made her first appearance on the charges before a judge Wednesday.
Jenny Marie Abeyta appeared via a video monitor while her mother and oldest son watched through a security window at the jail.
Abeyta faces two felony and three misdemeanor charges. She’s being held on a $25,000 cash-only bond. Cali O’Hare has the story.
Riverside accidental shooting update
About a year ago two Riverside men were arrested and charged with two counts each of involuntary attempted manslaughter after target shooting outside a residential area.
Stray bullets rang into the nearby neighborhood. One struck and injured a young mother, who is still recuperating from her injuries.
One of the accused men’s defense attorneys is using a recent Wyoming Supreme Court ruling that says a person cannot attempt to commit a crime involuntarily. Emma Diercks dug into the legal argument that prevailed in a case out of Converse County last year.
Wild horse facility coming to Baggs
A Baggs family is working with the Wyoming BLM Wild Horse Management Program to construct a short term holding facility and wild horse feed lot just outside of the Town of Baggs.
Last week, the applicants, Adobe Butte Feed Company, received the “go ahead” from county officials. Cali O’Hare reports.
