In an update to a story about the Saratoga swimming pools first broadcast on Bigfoot 99 in June, the recreation board decided Monday night not to raise the rate to swim.

At a council meeting last month, Councilwoman D’Ron Campbell said she had received complaints from community members who that the $5 and $7 rates for kid was hurting families this summer.

Councilman Jon Nelson said he had heard similar comments. Council said the issue would be brought up at the July 11th recreation board meeting.

Recreation Commission Chair Steve Nichols reported to Bigfoot 99 Tuesday that “nobody from the public showed up” to Monday night’s meeting. Nichols also said, “The town council’s representative was not in attendance either.” After discussing the pool fee structures, the board decided unanimously to keep the rates unchanged.

Nichols also said that the Saratoga recreation board has two unfilled positions. One for a Town of Saratoga resident and one for a representative who lives outside of the town limits. Anyone wishing to apply for those seats may submit a letter of interest to Mayor Creed James.
