Today’s Headlines:
- Two weeks after disaster was avoided when strong winds pushed a massive fire at the saw mill in Saratoga away from neighboring houses, the incident continues to draw the focus of officials. The fire and how to prevent a similar occurrence were discussed at last night’s council meeting.
- One of the big concerns for Carbon County officials was whether or not the bids for expanding the local youth crisis center would stay within budget. Yesterday, those involved in the process breathed a sigh of relief as the bids were awarded.
- The Rawlins Police, on Tuesday, released the names of the two men involved in Friday night’s high speed chase and eventual capture on Saturday. The pair were booked into the county jail. The suspects are 25-year old Santos Jaramillo and 32-year old Eli Jaure, both of Rawlins. Jaramillo is charged with interfering with a peace officer and Jaure was booked on charges of failure to provide proof of insurance, license plate violation and interference with a peace officer. According to Police Chief, Troy Palmer, additional charges are pending against both men.
- The suspect in Monday’s shoplifting incident that turned into a city-wide search was identified as Colorado resident Timothy Yoshida.
- Fore the second time since announcing her candidacy for governor, Mary Throne paid a visit to Carbon County residents, this time dropping in at a coffee shop in downtown Rawlins.
- The HEM track team’s hard work is paying off late in the season as the Miners become one of the better teams in the state.
