Interstate 80 across southern Wyoming was closed to high profile vehicles under 50,000 pounds of gross vehicle weight on Tuesday.

Gusty winds whipped to 80 miles per hour and more at times. Winds were even stronger in northern Wyoming, where, north of Cody, a gust of 86 miles per hour was recorded on the Chief Joseph Highway.

Meteorologists advise the wind will continue through much of the week because of a strong jet stream. Other Rocky Mountain states have also been impacted, including Colorado, Montana, Nebraska and even South Dakota.

The risk for blow-overs will continue to threaten high profile vehicles today.

By 9:00 a.m. Wednesday morning, wind speeds were back in the 50 miles-per hour range.
