Last November, the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office began a series of enforcement operations on the major highways surrounding Cheyenne, including Interstate 80. The original effort, called Operation Safe Haul, resulted in 40 immigration-related arrests of commercial truck drivers. In February, the initiative was renamed Truck Around and Find Out.

In his April 25th social‑media post, Sheriff Kozak said that during the latest operation, “Truck Around and Find Out: Spring Break”, deputies took 46 illegal commercial truck drivers off the road between April 21st and 23rd.

Sheriff Kozak attributed the Truck Around and Find Out efforts to a reduction in highway fatalities in Laramie County. The sheriff also said the operations lowered the county’s overall crime rate to well below the national average.

Sheriff Kozak said that, like the America of earlier generations, Wyoming residents respect the people who work to keep them safe.

The sheriff added that they also appreciate the commercial truck drivers who keep the county moving. Through its Truck Around and Find Out initiative, Sheriff Kozak said the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office is dedicated to protecting law‑abiding truckers.

Sheriff Kozak invited everyone to come to Wyoming and enjoy its “cowboy culture,” but warned those intending to break the law to stay away.

The Carbon County Sheriff’s Office recently began participating in Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s 287(g) program, where deputies can serve and execute ICE warrants on illegal aliens in the county’s custody. Unlike the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office, Carbon County does not actively seek out illegal immigrants. Last August, Sheriff Alex Bakken explained to Bigfoot99 that individuals must have been arrested for another crime before their immigration status comes into play.

Bigfoot99 was unable to independently verify the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office’s national immigration‑related ranking. Our reporter’s inquiries were not answered by the time of this report.
