Last night’s scheduled Saratoga town council meeting was canceled due to a lack of quorum.

The Saratoga town council is down one member following the untimely death of Councilman Jacob Fluty. On February 8th, Fluty was caught in an avalanche while snowmobiling in the Sierra Madres and passed away.

A call to the Saratoga town hall indicated that Mayor Chuck Davis was out of town and unable to attend last night’s meeting.

Presumably, Jacob’s father, Councilman Jerry Fluty, was absent due to personal reasons. His son’s funeral services were held on Sunday at the Platte Valley Community Center.

The town was left with only Councilmembers Mike Cooley and Kathy Beck. A three-fifths majority is needed for a quorum, meaning two councilmembers cannot legally meet and vote on town matters.

The next Saratoga town council meeting will be on March 5th at 6:00pm in the Saratoga town hall.
