A suspect accused of stabbing a truck driver in Sweetwater County was arrested near Rawlins.
On Sunday, September 13th, around 3:30 in the morning, the Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office received reports of a stabbing near the Bitter Creek rest area on Interstate 80, roughly 40 miles east of Rock Springs. Sheriff’s deputies and a Wyoming Highway Patrol trooper responded to the scene and located an adult male with multiple cuts and stab wounds.
Officers determined that the suspect had fled eastbound on Interstate 80 in a loaded semi-truck following the attack. The unidentified victim provided law enforcement with a description of the suspect and their vehicle and was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers located the suspect vehicle outside of Rawlins and initiated a traffic stop. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.
In a media release, the Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office stated that the motive for the attack is unknown at this time and that the investigation is ongoing.
