Tomorrow, October 6th, the Wyoming Game and Fish Department will host the Living in Large Carnivore Country workshop at the Carbon County Higher Education Center in Rawlins.
Game and Fish Casper Region Public Information Specialist Janet Milek explained that the state agency has specific staff dedicated to studying large carnivores, such as mountain lions, wolves, black bears, and grizzly bears. Milek said tomorrow’s workshop will be led by Large Carnivore Supervisor Dan Thompson, who will teach attendees how and why to avoid our area’s most dangerous predators.
Tomorrow’s workshop will also cover what to do in the event of a large carnivore encounter. Public Information Specialist Milek said Dan Thompson will explain what carnivore behavior means and how to respond in those situations.
As Wyoming Game and Fish’s Large Carnivore Supervisor, Milek said Dan Thompson has unique insight into the animals he regularly studies.
Milek encouraged everyone to attend tomorrow evening’s Game and Fish workshop in Rawlins. She said Large Carnivore Supervisor Thompson will take the time to answer any and all questions from the public.
Milek said additional local Game and Fish biologists and game wardens will also be on hand to answer questions.
Wyoming Game and Fish’s Living in Large Carnivore Country Workshop begins at 6 p.m. tomorrow, at the Carbon County Higher Education Center, located at 1650 Harshman Street in Rawlins. Admission is free.
