On Friday, Governor Mark Gordon signed the first bill of the 2026 Budget Session into law, Enrolled Act 1.
The first law of 2026 started as House Bill 4, Birthing centers – Medicaid coverage.
The new law authorizes payments at a birthing center under the Wyoming Medical Assistance and Services Act. The House passed the bill on third reading on February 13 with only three “no” votes.
In a statement about HB 4, Governor Gordon said. “There are rural areas in Wyoming where accessing maternity care is a real challenge.”
The governor said the bill is “common sense step” to strengthen health care across the state. “When we invest in mothers and babies, we invest in Wyoming’s future,” the governor said when signing the legislation into law.
