The Wyoming Cowgirls basketball team is headed to the WNIT for the third consecutive season.

The announcement was made Monday afternoon. Wyoming will play the winner of the March 21st opening round matchup between Northern Colorado and University of Texas San Antonio.

Wyoming made the cut as an at-large qualifier. The Cowgirls are 20-10 all-time in the WNIT and won the 2007 title.

For the third consecutive season and the 12th time in program history the Wyoming Cowgirl basketball team has been selected to play in the WNIT.

The WNIT is now the third-tiered postseason tournament. The NCAA does not run it. It began in 1994, starting as a preseason tournament before expanding to the postseason four years later.

Wyoming finished the 2023-24 regular season 16-14 overall with a loss in the Mountain West Championship quarterfinals. Last season, the Cowgirls lost in the second round at Kansas State.
